Condoms are the best way to protect yourself against STDs. They can be 100% effective when used properly. Unfortunately, most people don't follow the necessary condom protocol. This negligence lowers the average person's protection rate to about 85%-90%. Below are guidelines to proper condom use.

1) Use only new and fresh latex condoms. Latex condoms offer far better protection than natural skin condoms. The benefit of the spermicide is that it kills off the sperm.

2) Always put on the condom before you have any genital contact.

3) Slowly unroll the condom all the way down the shaft of the penis.

4) Squeeze the tip when rolling down the condom. This will prevent air bubbles from forming.

5) Be sure to use a reservoir tip condom. The tip is there to catch the semen. If the condom you're using doesn't have a tip (nipple), then leave a half inch at the top to catch the cum Bubbles can cause the condom to rip.

6) Use lots of lubrication. Dry condoms rip more easily.

7) Gentlemen, once you cum in the condom...slowly but immediately withdraw your penis. Hold onto the base of the condom to prevent leakage. Leaving your penis inside the vagina increases the chance that your sperm will seep out and begin a journey that you don't want it to take.

8) Only use water-based lubricants. Avoid Vaseline and baby oil at all costs. These products will weaken and/or rip holes in the condom.
